6-12 Mathematics – Singapore’s 5 Key Instructional Practices
This workshop will highlight the 5 key instructional approaches that are the foundation of Singapore’s approach to teaching secondary mathematics. Teachers will learn the way their students learn as they participate in mathematics lessons led by the trainer. Lessons are followed by discussions and debriefing. Learning is hands-on and there will be ample time for questions and collaboration with other participants. Workshop topics include:
- Mathematical visualization as a tool to develop abstract understanding
- Opportunities for differentiated instruction and effective practice
- Journaling for deeper understanding
- How to develop students’ metacognitive skills
